Wilson's Chess News

The Wilson’s Chess Team was victorious in fixtures in the Brian Poulter League last month as the A and B teams faced off against our long-time rivals King’s College School Wimbledon (KCS) at home. At the same time, our C team played away at Emmanuel.

In Division 1, an unfortunate default from KCS B, a couple of days prior to the fixture, meant the A team won 6-0. However, the B team’s fixture was destined to be a tough one, playing against the current National Champions, KCS A. While KCS were not at their full strength, we expected a close match, with tough games. After almost two hours with back-and-forth results and tense positions in the final games, the B team just emerged victorious with 3.5-2.5. We had defeated the National Champions! Special mentions to Akshay, Raghav and Anuj for winning their games.

In Division 2, the C team prevailed in a crushing 9-3 victory against Emmanuel, retaining their first place in the division. Special mentions to Fenu, Limo, Sanjiv and Jai for scoring 2/2 and a special thanks to Mr Dixon for taking the team via the mini bus to and from Emmanuel.

We hope to keep up this performance in the run up to Christmas and beyond!
