Debating competition

Last weekend, six of our talented Sixth Form debaters participated in an intense and thought-provoking competition, showcasing their skills in four challenging motions. Despite facing tough opposition, all students performed admirably, contributing to some excellent debate rounds.
Wilson’s A Team had a particularly strong showing, winning both their first and third rounds. In their third round, "This house prefers a world where there has always been a single dominant religion," the team delivered a well-reasoned argument on the implications of religious unity in society. Wilson's B team also impressed, finishing in second place in both their first and third rounds.
While none of the teams made it to the final, their performances were a testament to their hard work and dedication to the art of debating. All six students showed remarkable poise and confidence, handling difficult motions with skill.
For any students interested in honing their debating skills further, the Debating Club is always open for new members. The club meets every Tuesday lunchtime in Room 26 for the Juniors (Ms Mortimer) and Room 20 for the Seniors (Mr Powell). All are welcome to join and take part in this exciting activity.
We look forward to seeing more of our students participate and continue to shine in future debates.
