Football Update #20

Player of the Week

The U12Cs beat St John’s thanks to four goals from Raiyan (Year 7) and two goals from Hudson (Year 7) before going one better on Saturday, netting seven goals shared between them. Samrudhan (Year 8) scored one of the goals of the season with a stunning volley from the halfway line. On the same day 4th XI centre midfielder Myles (Year 12) scored a 25-yard screamer into the top corner. The U12As have been a defensive machine this season with twelve clean sheets and one of the reasons for that is the ever-reliable Woody (Year 7) at centre back. But this week he also turned goal scorer with two well taken goals from Tommy’s (Year 7) corners. Leo (Year 7) scored his 18th goal of the season with a hat-trick of clinical finishes for the U12Bs versus John Fisher. Another hat-trick hero is Adhyayan (Year 9) who scored one for the U14Cs. Player of the week is U14B goalkeeper Cecil (Year 9) who made a string of impressive saves to earn them an impressive draw.

Team of the Week

The U12As continue their relentless form winning their two games 6-0 and 8-1. They have now won eighteen out of their last twenty games. Our C teams were in the spotlight this week and didn’t disappoint. The U12Cs made it two wins in three as the beat Ewell Castle U12Bs. The U13Cs continue to score goals for fun beating Ewell Castle Bs 7-0. Team of the Week are the U12Bs who are still unbeaten, and this week beat a good Ewell A team 4-1.

Match Report

Wilson’s U12B 1-0 Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School | 1st March 2025

Wilson’s U12Bs extended their incredible unbeaten streak to 16 games with a well-earned 1-0 victory against Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School. With Twickenham visible in the distance, the team faced a tough challenge against strong opposition in a tightly contested match. Both sides created chances, making for an exciting and competitive encounter where every pass, tackle, and shot mattered.

The breakthrough came in the first half when Ansh found the net in dramatic fashion. His strike took two heavy deflections on its way past the goalkeeper, but that didn’t take away from the quality of the effort. It was a well-hit shot that caused problems for the defence and ultimately proved to be the difference between the two teams.

After taking the lead, Wilson’s had to dig deep as Cardinal Vaughan pushed forward in search of an equaliser. The defence stood strong, staying disciplined and composed under pressure. The midfield worked tirelessly to break up attacks and support the backline, while the goalkeeper made some key interventions to preserve the clean sheet.

Despite late pressure from the home side, Wilson’s held firm to secure the victory and continue their unbeaten run. It was a game that tested the team’s resilience, but their determination and teamwork saw them through. Another strong performance, another clean sheet, and another step forward in what has been a fantastic season so far.
