Scaling the Walkie Talkie!

Earlier this month, ten sixth form students and two members of staff climbed 896 steps (36 floors) to raise money for this year's chosen charity: Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.
The team worked very hard to raise funds for the event, with their donation page now showing at around £4,000 in donations! This has put them into third place on the leader board for most money raised by a team which is very impressive. The majority of the other teams were companies with large donors, so our students had to reach far and wide for sponsorship. In addition to the online sponsorship, they worked at the Krispy Kreme sale on Friday (every doughnut sold in 10 minutes!) to earn a further £260 for the charity.
All the climbers did very well, and everyone finished the climb in less than 17 minutes. Jack (Year 12) was the quickest in his wave and joint tenth quickest over all with an astonishing time of 5 minutes and 51 seconds. Minhyuk overcame the challenge of running up with a banana costume on narrowly beating Mr Peronius by 8 seconds. Mr Peronius maintains he would have been quicker if didn't get stuck behind the climbers dressed as squirrels...
You can watch a summary of the climbing action below.

Well done to our student and staff climbers, and to everyone who supported their fundraising efforts!
